The ‘Thumb’ is the indicator of one’s level of evolvement in life. It signifies will power, logic and love.
The top portion of thumb i.e. from tip downwards up to the middle joint indicates ‘will’ power of a person. If it doesn’t bend backwards at the top, it indicates rigidity, uncompromising nature and potential for hard work, discipline. If it bends backwards shows adaptability, intelligence, tact and diplomacy, a good peacemaker and public relations man.

A long thumb indicates man of ideas, who is ruled by head while a short thumb denotes a sentimental person ruled by heart. A long thumb, if bends backwards indicates force with will power, talent, harmony and resoluteness. If the thumb opens up to 70 deg to 90 deg the subject is of balanced views (more open views being independent). If thumb opens more than 90 deg he doesn’t like control. A very short thumbed person is influenced by evil and do well under control and make obedient servants. When the top portion is like a knob, it represents animal instincts, porous and brutish ideas, a lazy and obstinate person. When this portion is like a spatula and is heavy, the person displays great reliance and domineering spirit. When the top tip is square, it denotes a capable, realistic and a constant person with decisive thoughts. ‘Logic’ is indicated by lower portion of thumb up to the base. When the ‘will’ part of thumb is short comparative to ‘logic’ part, the subject is easily ruled by others. If the logic part is more then he makes magnificent plans and castles in air but rarely executes his plans due to lack of determination, yet he will be a very good counselor without any profit from his counseling. When the ‘will’ is long ‘logic’ is short, the subject indulges in gratification of selfish desires.
When the lower portion is waist like-thin formation, the subject is able and refined in thoughts with strong reasoning propensities. He diplomatically tends to get his work done and is successful leader and executive.

The third part of thumb is actually the part of palm at the base of thumb. If the will and logic part are short and not clearly defined then the person is passionate, sensual and animal like. When this portion is weak and flat indicates poor health, lack of affection, cold and undemonstrative nature.

When the tip of the thumb is bent inwards instead of outwards indicates restrictive attitude, acquisitiveness, meanness and the person is the slave of his own selfishness.
